The CrossAsia Open Access Repository is operated on the basis of the software framework MyCoRe as part of its hosting service "Reposis" by the Head Office of the GBV Common Library Network which also guarantees archiving the published content on this repository for at least five years. In addition, the content published on the CrossAsia Open Access Repository is archived long term by the German National Library (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek) as part of its statutory collection mandate for digital media and net publications. Also in cooperation with the German National Library, the electronic documents published on the CrossAsia Open Access Repository receive unique persistent identifiers - so-called Uniform Resource Names - which ensure reliable referencing of digital objects and thus their permanent citability. In addition, Digital Object Identifiers are assigned in conjunction with DataCite - a well-established international alternative system for the persistent identification of network content. As a data provider under the international Open Archives Initiative (OAI), the CrossAsia Open Access Repository exposes formal and content metadata about published articles via a standardised interface (OAI-PMH 2.0) registered with established scholarly search engines - including OAIster, BASE, CORE, as well as CrossAsia Search. The global visibility of articles published on the CrossAsia Open Access Repository is also further increased via indexing by Google Scholar.
